TAPP House was initially founded to provide transitional housing for women leaving the Tapestry Program in the Ohio Reformatory for Women. Two women ex-offenders, Corliss West and Janice Sawyer, saw a need in the community to assist women ex-offenders, homeless women, and women with substance abuse disorder overcome the stigma and obstacles related to their circumstances. They are both recovering addicts and ex-offenders. The therapeutic training they received in the Tapestry Program was priceless. The vision of TAPP House/TC, Inc is to successfully reintegrate women back into the community by assisting them with the proper training, to overcome negative stereotypes, and to provide program activities that will empower them to become responsible, functional, productive, caring individuals which will increase their quality of life and have a positive impact on the community as a whole.

WE are Here...

...to help you identify your options.
...to discuss steps with you, not to take the steps for you.
...to help you discover your own strength, not to rescue you and leave you still vulnerable.
...to help you learn to choose, not to make it
unnecessary for you to make difficult choices.

TAPP House will provide therapeutic housing  and assign residents whom we prefer to call “family members” to different jobs in the house.  The house will have a resident manager on-site 24 hrs a day.  A Case Manger will be assigned to all residents.

The house will be peer-run and the staff and volunteers will provide rehabilitative groups such as proper etiquette, self-esteem workshops, didactic activities, parenting skills, anger management, and relapse prevention.  The family members will prepare meals, conduct morning and family business meetings, keep the premises clean and tidy and submit concern slips to staff about each family member’s behavior as warranted.

These concern slips will be addressed in a group setting.  Residents will be connected with Workforce Development agencies to prepare them for employment.  AA and NA meetings will be held on-site once or twice a week.

Program Fee is $250.00 per month for the 1st six months.  If residents wish to remain in the house after completing six months and securing employment, each resident will be required to pay rent equal to 30% of their weekly earnings.  The idea is to connect them with resources in order to live responsibly and help them obtain their own individual housing; not to remain with our organization for an indefinite period of time.
