HOME serves the Greater Cincinnati Metropolitan Area, including communities within the counties of Hamilton, Butler, Clermont and Warren, Ohio, and Campbell, Kenton, and Boone, Kentucky.

 

OUR SERVICES

FAIR HOUSING CLIENT SERVICES

 

HOME assists people who feel that they are victims of illegal housing discrimination.

 

HOME will investigate complaints of discrimination and offer courses of action to protect housing rights. Client services are free.

Landlords and tenants are welcome to call HOME with questions about Fair Housing Act requirements.

 

HOME 's bilingual staff assists Hispanic clients with complaints of discrimination and unfair treatment in their housing situation, and helps them report harassment and other crimes to the police.  Our bilingual staff also helps landlords communicate with their Hispanic tenants to help them solve problems caused by the language barrier and cultural differences.

 

REAL ESTATE AND RENTAL TRAINING          

 

HOME offers training to real estate and property management companies.  The training includes federal, state and local fair housing laws and ways to avoid the pitfalls of illegal sales and rental practices.

OUTREACH SERVICES

 

HOME 's staff gives presentations on fair housing issues to various community and professional groups, including: Neighborhood and community councils, Civic organizations , Churches, Media talk shows (radio & television),Conferences and conventions.

 

MOBILITY SERVICES

 

HOME ’s Mobility staff offers free help to Section 8 Voucher holders who want to move to middle income neighborhoods that are safe, and near good schools and jobs. HOME helps landlords find qualified tenants for properties in middle-income areas.

 

MEDIATION SERVICES

Since 2000, HOME and the Greater Cincinnati / Northern Kentucky Apartment Association have worked collaboratively to offer private mediation services to

 

HOME clients who have complaints of bias.

 

NEIGHBORHOOD STABILITY

 

HOME is now working to help homeowners in Hamilton County avoid foreclosure and predatory lending. Our Foreclosure Prevention Program is staffed by individuals experienced in mortgage lending that provide negotiation services with lenders, objective advice on refinancing and possible access to government emergency mortgage assistance funding.

 

HOMELESSNESS PREVENTION PROGRAM

 

HOME works with those who are experiencing difficulty maintaining rental housing for reasons ranging from tenant/landlord issues to lack of resources. Our staff will offer objective advice for tenants facing housing issues or eviction.
